T-Ball/6 & Under:

• ASA Rules in effect except as modified below:

• Game Time: 1 hr. 15 min. drop dead. (Games may end @45 min to 1 hr. if teams agree & as needed).

• Base Distance: Bases distance will be set at 60’. (Base Distance will be 55’ at fields where available).

• Batting: All players present shall be listed on the official line-up and shall bat in the order listed for the entire game. Each team shall bat the entire line up for the 1st half of the season. The 2nd half of the season, all teams will begin to record outs & bat the line up till three outs are recorded or made. Once 3 outs are recorded teams will switch. The 2nd half of season will begin March 25, 2019.

• Official Game Ball: 10” Rawlings/Worth SR10RYS RIF Level 1 (Soft-Dot) or 10” Diamond RC DRC- 10RFPSC optic yellow softball. Home team will provide game balls, 1 new ball & 1 good used ball.

• Pitching: Pitching rubber will be set at 30’ & a player must be placed at the pitchers position.

• Assistants: Only 5 assistants will be permitted in the dugout & on the field for instructional purposes during games. (All adults must be background checked in accordance with ASA rules).

• Catchers: All teams must field a player in the catcher’s position & player must wear the appropriate catchers gear for safety purposes.

• No Umpires.

• No Score will be kept for the entire season.

• Coach Pitch: There will be no coach pitch for the 1st half of the season which ends Sunday March 24, 2019. The 2nd half of the season begins Monday March 25, 2019 & as of that date the 2nd half of the season rule adjustments go into effect.

T-Ball/6U 2nd Half of Season Rule Adjustments: (Intro of Designated Coach Pitcher)

• Designated Coach Pitcher: Commencing Monday March 25, 2019 all participating T-Ball/6U teams from all leagues will begin using a Designated Coach Pitcher (DCP). All teams will assign as DCP for each game. The DCP must pitch with one foot on the pitching rubber while pitching. Each batter will get a max of 4 coach pitches with extra pitches for each batted foul. After 3 strikes the batter is out & the next batter is up. After ball 4 the tee will be introduced & the batter will receive 3 attempts to hit the ball off the tee into fair territory. In order to keep the game moving, if after 3 swings off the tee if the batter does not hit the ball into fair territory the batter will be declared out & the next batter will be up.

• Designated Coach Pitcher Interference: The DCP must move out of the way of a batted balls into fair territory so that the ball can be fielded by the defensive players. If the ball hits the DCP, ball will be declared a Dead Ball, the batter must return to home plate to continue batting (batter will assume their previous count prior to the DCP’s interference) & the runners on base must return to their previous occupied base.

• Batting: All players present shall be listed on the official line-up & all teams will bat the line up till 3 outs are made or recorded. Once 3 outs are made or recorded teams will switch offense & defensive.

• Base Running: Runners can only steal 1 base at a time. There is no stealing on an over throw from any player.

• Home Plate: Home plate is closed.

• Bunting: There is no bunting permitted during Coach Pitch.

• Coach Umpire: Prior to the start of each game each team has the option of selecting a Coach Umpire who will serve as the umpire while their team is on offense. The Designated Coach Pitcher cannot be the Coach Umpire.

• Protest: There are no protests, the umpires call on the field is final.

8 & Under:

• ASA Rules in effect except as modified below.

• Game Time: 1 hr. 20 min. no new inning, 1 hr. 30 min. drop dead. Any inning not completed, score will revert back to the previous completed inning.

• Base Distance: Bases distance set at 60’.

• Pitching Distance: Pitching rubber will be set at 30’.

• Official Game Ball: 10” Rawlings/Worth SR10RYS RIF Level 1 (Soft-Dot) or 10” Diamond RC DRC- 10RFPSC optic yellow softball. Home team will provide game balls, 1 new ball & 1 good used ball.

• Pitcher: Pitcher must have two feet touching the pitching rubber. Pitcher must have control of the ball in the circle for the play to end.

• Pitching Outs: Pitchers are limited to 9 outs per game.

• Coach Pitch: Coach Pitch is in effect after ball four for the 1st half of the season, which ends Sunday March 24, 2019. Prior to the start of the game, each team will assign a Designated Coach Pitcher or DCP. The DCP must have one foot on the pitching rubber for every pitch.

• Coach Pitch Rule Adjustment 2nd Half of the Season: The 2nd half of the season begins Monday March 25, 2019. There will be NO coach pitch for the 2nd half of the season.

• Bunting: There will be NO bunting off of coach pitch.

• Base Stealing: No stealing off coach pitch. While the player is pitching, runners may steal one base at a time after the ball leaves the pitchers hand. Runners may only steal second & third base. Runners can be called out for leaving early (umpires judgment).

• Home plate: Home plate is closed.

• Run Limit: There is a five (5) run limit for innings 1 thru 3, unlimited runs for innings 4 thru 6. Runs ahead are not allowed.

• Mercy Rule: 15 runs after 3 innings, 12 runs after 4 innings & 8 runs after 5 innings.

• Umpires: Umpire fees are not to exceed $45 per game & both teams will share the cost equally. Only 1 umpire will be used per game. Any umpire fees that exceed $45 will be paid by the hosting league/team. At Central Orange fields, Umpire fees are to be paid to the snack bar prior to the start of the game.

• Defensive Players: A minimum of 8 players & a maximum of 10 players will be allowed on the field for defensive play, & up to four of those players must be positioned on the outfield grass. No player may sit out more than two innings (innings do not need to be played consecutively). If the required amount of playing time is not met due to mercy rule or called game, that player must start the next scheduled game.

• Infield Fly Rule: No Infield Fly Rule.

• Drop Third Strike: No Drop Third Strike Rule, runners may not advance on a dropped third strike.

• Batting: Round Robin Batting will be used for the entire season.

• Assistants: Only 4 coaches will be permitted in the dugout during games.

• Protest: There are no protests, the umpires call on the field is final.


10 & Under:

• ASA Rules in effect except as modified below.

• Game Time: 1 hr. 20 min. no new inning, 1 hr. 30 min. drop dead. Any inning not completed, score will revert back to the previous completed inning.

• Base Distance: Bases set at 60’.

• Pitching Distance: Pitching rubber will be set at 35’.

• Official Game Ball: 11” Rawlings/Worth SR11RYS RIF 1 or RIF 0 (preferably RIF 10 if available) or 11” Diamond RC DRC-11 RFPSC optic yellow softball. Home team will provide game balls, 1 new ball & 1 good used ball.

• Drop Third Strike: Drop Third Strike is in effect.

• Home Plate: Home plate is open.

• Stealing: Runners may steal after the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand. Runner can be called out for leaving early (umpires judgment).

• Pitcher: Pitcher must have control of the ball in the circle for the play to end.

• Infield Fly Rule: Infield Fly Rule is in effect.

• Batting: Round Robin Batting will be used for the entire season.

• Assistants: Only 4 assistant coaches will be permitted in the dugout during games.

• Protest: There are no protests, the umpires call on all fields is final.


12 & Under:

• ASA Rules in effect except as modified below.

• Game Time: 1 hr. 20 min. no new inning, 1 hr. 30 min. drop dead. Any inning not completed, score will revert back to the previous completed inning.

• Base Distance: Bases set at 60’.

• Pitching Distance: Pitching rubber will be set at 40’.

• Cleats: All Players will wear molded (rubber/plastic) cleats, no metal cleats permitted in 12U.

• Official Game Ball: 12” Rawlings/Worth Dream Seam C12RYL Optic Yellow with red stitch, 12” Diamond Flyer RC optic yellow with red stitch or 12” Dudley (CFP). Home team will provide game balls, 1 new ball & 1 good used ball.

• Drop Third Strike: Drop Third Strike is in effect.

• Home Plate: Home plate is open.

• Pitcher: Pitcher must have control of the ball in the circle for the play to end.

• Run Limit: For the 1st half of the season, which ends Sunday March 24, 2019 there is a 5 run limit for innings 1 through 3, runs are unlimited for innings 4 through 6, runs ahead are not allowed. NOTE: 2nd half of the season begins March 25, 2019 for all age divisions. (This date can be changed if necessary at the discretion of all participating leagues).

Make-Up Games: No make-up games for teams that fail to show for scheduled game regardless of reason. Teams that don’t show for games will be considered as a forfeit & that team is responsible for paying their portion of the umpire fees. Rained out games: effected leagues will try to reschedule games if possible. Rain make up games will be played at the field originally scheduled at unless both teams/leagues agree otherwise. During inclement weather a complete game will be after 5 completed innings of play or per USA Softball Official Rules of the game.

Interleague Playing Rules: All participating leagues have agreed to abide by these modified rules along with the USA Softball Official Rules of the game. It is each individual leagues responsibility to insure their teams are informed of these playing rules & all teams play by these rules. Deviation from these playing rules will be reported to the league Presidents & corrective actions will be taken as necessary.
